Ingredients
  

  • 3 pounds boneless beef chuck roast
  • 1.5 cups ketchup
  • 0.25 cups packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 sandwich buns split
  • sliced onions optional
  • dill pickles optional
  • pickled jalapenos optional

Method
 

  1. Cut roast in half and place in a 3- or 4-qt. slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, liquid smoke if desired, and seasonings. Pour over beef.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender.
  4. Remove meat; cool slightly. Skim fat from cooking liquid.
  5. Shred beef with 2 forks; return to the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until heated through.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, place 1/2 cup on each bun. Serve with onions, pickles and jalapenos if desired.
